TAC Multi Arts returns to beautiful Kingsland Point Park!
This year we are excited to offer the opportunity for our campers to explore the culture and arts of South America, with a focus on Argentina with singer, actor, dancer, and educator Facundo Augustín, harpist and educator Nicolás Carter who specializes in the traditions of Paraguay, and renowned percussionist and educator Hector Morales from Peru, in addition to other renowned South American guest artists!!!
Campers will be grouped by age and led in arts-related workshops and recreational activities around the cultural theme each day, with breaks for snack and lunch. Activities include: music, dance, theater, visual art, as well as counselor-led sports activities throughout the week. Your kids will get LOTS of exercise walking this vast park under the shade of the beautiful trees at Kingsland Point Park!
We continue our long-term relationship with beloved local multi-disciplinary artist Jill Liflander (@jillypuppets) who will lead our campers in movement, theater, and storytelling activities around our cultural themes, veteran musician Vinny Nobile who will teach general music through musical storytelling and games (Orff-trained, director of "TrommyTones"), and TAC's art director Melissa Lohman-Wild (@wildartandplay, early childhood teacher at Little Leaf Preschool) who will continue to craft thoughtful, nature inspired daily visual art activities which will be taught this year by SHHS faculty member Jane Lawrence.
Our older campers (Gr. 1-4) can stay for our afternoon extension program, campers grouped by age.
Peter Royston will lead Afternoon Theater inspired by our cultural theme this year for our 3rd/4th graders and Jamie Vanegas of iD Studio Theater will lead Theater Creation for our youngest campers.

Haitian dancer and singer Sheila Anozier with drums. Colombian dancer and choreographer Daniel Fetecua and musicians Christian Rodriguez and Nestor Gómez. Puerto Rican "Bomba y plena," with dancer Oxíl Febles and percussionist Nelson "Mateo" Gonzalez." Guinean dancer and drummer Marion Archer West African musician JB Gnonlonfoun, Chinese dancer Ling Tang and musician Zhou Yi, Peruvian musician Hector Morales and singer Sofia Tosello, Indian Bollywood dance with Ramya Gunashekar, Brazilian Carioca Capoeira, and Japanese Taiko drumming with Les Von Losberg.
Past Multi Arts activities have included: theater games, nature inspired art, music, scavenger hunts, nature walks, recreational games. The goal of Multi Arts is to get our kids ACTIVE, HAPPY, and INSPIRED. Arts workshops are always taught by renowned local and NYC-based professional dancers, musicians, actors, and visual artists.
Other past themes have included AFRICA, with a focus on the African values of COMMUNITY, uniting our kids in-person after a challenging pandemic with opportunities to move, socialize, and discover through the ARTS in a breathtaking setting along the river! Past activities and artists have included: West African dance and drumming with JB Gnonlonfoun Peruvian music and dance with renowned percussionist and educator Hector Morales with singer Sofía Tosello, Indian Bollywood dance with Ramya Gunashekar-Allen, South Indian dance and drumming with master Nalini Rau and Aaron Paige, Native American culture and storytelling with Vida Ladron, Mexican son jarocho with the Villalobos Brothers, bluegrass with Astrograss, Kizuna Daiko Japanese Taiko drumming group, flamenco with Rebeca Tomás, Spanish theater with Flor Bromley, Chinese traditional music and dance with Ling Tang with Zhou Yi, modern dance with former Limon Dancer Daniel Fetecua, Brazilian Capoiera and more! Also featured are local artists including puppets and world theater with Jill Liflander from Jilly Puppets, dance with MK Dance, yoga with Angeline Montoya Powell, art with Melissa Lohman-Wild, theater fun with Josh Lewis, classical music with Bassoonist Gili Sharett.

Note: Special this year, thanks to the generosity of the Pocantico Center and in conjunction with their current art exhibit "Portraits of Process," our Week 1 clay campers (July 15-19) will have the opportunity to will have the opportunity to visit the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center and meet with the exhibition curators - Vanessa Hoheb and Thomas Donahue - get a tour of "Portraits of Process," hold and examine some bronzes and learn about the process of casting, and finally move into the art studio for a demonstration of how the bronze hands are cast – and most excitingly, have their own hands cast in clay.
Both weeks of clay camp are a hands-on opportunity to see your imagination come to life! Everyone will have a chance on the potter’s wheel to make projects using various methods while learning how to add pattern, texture and glaze. Campers will make pinch pots and use the extruder and slab roller to create bowls, mugs, boxes or other containers. Finished projects go home at the end of the week. Campers grouped by age. We look forward to the return of SHHS faculty member Mary Cincotta and Irvington-based educator Marisa Micolucci .

Do you love reading adventure books with fantastical settings and magical elements? Have you ever wanted to write a story set in a place you’ve never been? Through this workshop, students will understand the layout of the land within their stories, no matter what genre. We will take a look at ancient cultures and how landscape, language, government, and belief systems impact story. Led by writer Misty Yarnall

Renowned director, composer, pianist, and producer Pablo Mayor of Folklore Urbano NYC will lead students in exercises in syncopation, understanding different time signatures, etc, and translating those concepts into melody. Students will rehearse music arranged just for them to share with parents at the end of the week!

TAC 2024 will continue to bring renowned artists to enrich the lives of our children thanks to the generous support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. They're contribution helps us to make our camp affordable to all while retaining a high-level of artistic and educational programming.
TAC 2023 was able to serve our local teenagers through our counselor employment program, and offer low-cost tuition and a large number of scholarships thanks to the generous funding from our additional funders: the Westchester Community Foundation, a division of The New York Community Trust, the Kids Club, the Alison Paul Scholarship Fund, Rivertown Runners, Rotary, and our generous parents!
