Led by WI faculty member Amanda Falcone, and inspired by our theme of Ancient Traditions, campers created Egyptian tomb paintings incorporating ancient hieroglyphics and modern day words and symbols. Each painting told a story about each student showing different aspects of their identity and what was meaningful to them.
Some learning objectives would be:
- to identify certain Egyptian hieroglyphics and recognize their meanings
- to become familiar with aspects of ancient Egyptian culture and their relationship to hieroglyphs
- to to discuss different ways of representing ideas and how conveying them to others
- to be able to use symbol and words to tell a story about their identity and what is meaningful to them
*For a full day experience, sign up for HVWC Creative Writing Camp 9am-1pm and a chaperone will walk students to Kingsland in time for the exploratory arts workshops.
Checks or cash only
*Please indicate on the form if you are in need of a scholarship. Tarrytown Arts Camp does its best to provide financial aid to students in need!
Donations to our SCHOLARSHIP fund are essential to make this possible. Please consider supporting the camp scholarship fund!
